downtown Rochester wedding:: Claire & David

Claire and David are one of those couples that set you at ease in their presence. They are easy to talk to, laid back, and down to earth. When we met a few months ago for their engagement session, I instantly knew their wedding was going to be a great one. I imagined a day that flowed smoothly with no stress, guests just there to participate and celebrate, and everyone enthusiastically supporting this couple. My idea about what their day was going to be like turned out to be pretty accurate.
There were country details that matched their engagement session and love of horses and beautiful pops of color from bright spring flowers. The ceremony was joyous and low key but heartfelt and sincere.After the ceremony we made use of the bright afternoon and warm sun to take some portraits in front of the church and in the surrounding area of downtown.
The reception was held at the gorgeous Inn on Broadway in downtown Rochester. The food and decor were both phenomenal and set the stage for a cozy and romantic evening filled with laughter and lots of good times with Claire and David’s friends and family. We even got to sneak to the rooftop of the Inn and shoot a few photos before dark. Congrats again Claire and David!

it’s spring!

Sometimes, I set up an image I know I’m going to love. I consider the light, look for the background, get it all ready in my mind, and am happy with the result. And then, sometimes, you stumble completely out of the blue upon a TEEPEE… in the middle of the woods…and all your wildest image making dreams come true! I am so in love with this and thankful to whoever built that crazy teepee in the woods. Can’t wait to share more of Jennifer & Alex’s e-session with you soon.

Jordan & Aaron:: Lake Huron winter wedding

I’m so excited to share these photos with you! Jordan & Aaron’s winter wedding was just magic and one of the many I shot this winter that really transformed the way I had envisioned winter weddings before. There are truly not as many limitations as you’d think with them and look at the awesome background we got with that gorgeous frozen lake!!! I mean, come on, so beautiful, peaceful, and romantic! Jordan just looked amazing in the fur shawl and thankfully the day wasn’t too cold so I didn’t have to edit out any super red noses, ears or fingers. Their reception took place at the rustic Vintage Tavern in downtown Port Huron. The iron, brick, and twinkle lights set the mood for a cozy evening filled with good friends, food, and lots of laughter. Thank you Jordan and Aaron for having me be a part of your special day, it meant so much to me and I was so blessed to be there!

Claire & David:: a horse farm engagement

Despite living in the country, and working with a lot of clients who live in the country, I still haven’t included a horse (or many other farm animals for that matter) into any of my sessions. But Claire and David and their beautiful horse, Soul, changed that for me. We did their engagement photos at the stables where they actually met, which meant it was the perfect location because it was a part of their history, but also let us easily incorporate their beloved horse, Soul Winner into some of the photos too. Unfortunately, I don’t think Soul will be making an appearance at their wedding this weekend but I still can’t wait to capture those photos! Enjoy their snowy, romantic, country engagement photos and check back for a wedding preview next week!
